Proud veterans posters support events

By Colonel Jim Stone
The 2014 "Proud Supporter of the Veterans of Cannon County" posters and letters asking for donations have been sent out. Your donations make it possible to have an annual Veterans Day Program at the Cannon County High School and the annual Veterans Day Parade.

Your name and the name of your business goes on the back of the Program Booklet which is given to all of the students, teachers, faculty, guests, and veterans attending the program on Friday. They are also passed out at the Parade on Saturday. This is great advertising for you and your business. We need your support, and to get your name and the name of your business on the program booklet, as a proud supporter of our Veterans of Cannon County, your donations needs to be turned in no later than October 15, 2014, because we have to get the program booklets printed for the program on November 7th and the parade on November 8th.

All funds received go 100% to our youth, our community, and our veterans. Thank you so much for your continuous support and your generous donations. This is a great way to say thanks to our veterans for their service. It is a great way to make sure that our citizens and our children never forget the sacrifices and the cost of freedom. And it is a great way to say thanks to those 61 Cannon County men whose names are engraved on the Veterans Monument in front of our Courthouse, who gave their lives for this great country and the wonderful freedom we enjoy today.

If you did not receive a poster and letter, and you would like to make a donation call me and I will make sure your name and the name of your business gets printed on the back of the program booklet. Again, thank you and God bless you and yours always.

PATRIOTIC COOKBOOKS
There are a few Patriotic Cookbooks left. When they are gone they are gone. If you want one see a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Unit of the American Legion Post 279 or a Legionnaire of Post 279. They will make sure that you get one before they are gone. This is truly a classic full of old time favorite family recipes.

PATRIOTIC DAY CELEBRATION
The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 will host the National September 11th Annual Commemoration on September, 11, 2014, in remembrance of 9/11, at 11:00 A.M., in front of the Cannon County Courthouse.
