The Hilton G. Stone Post 279 of the American Legion has been granted permission by the city to hold a roadblock/fund raiser on the 29th of May during the Memorial Day from the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm at two different locations in Woodbury.

The roadblocks will be set at College and Main and Tatum and Main. The Cannon County Spotted Horse Memorial Day Parade will be going on during an hour or two of the roadblock. Members of the local post will be on hand to solicit the donations and at the same time will be handing out the poppy, the symbol for the soldiers buried in faraway lands. The following description says it all:

Poppy SYMBOLISM

The four petals represent. .. ... Dedication ... Sacrifice ... Responsibility ... Compassion

The red petals, stand for the vast outpouring of blood.

The black, stands for the mud and desolation of all battlefields.

The green of the stem and foliage is symbolic of the forests, meadows and fields where generations of Americans have perished to make this land free.

The stem represents the courage and determination of our fallen warriors.

The assembled produce, a flower, is a symbol of resurrection, which is sure to

follow.
