Planning is beginning for the first-ever Industry Appreciation Week in Cannon County.

Cannon County's Industrial Develop-ment Board formed a committee to draft an event which will conclude with a dinner on Nov. 24.

"Most people will be surprised at the number of industries existing in Cannon County," said IDB chairman Randall Reid.

A subcommittee was appointed Aug. 6 to organize the event. The panel includes Reid, Chamber of Commerce President Neal Appelbaum, IDB members Dean More and Burton Mason, along with Carolyn Motley, coordinator of the Cannon County Chamber of Commerce.

There are several reasons to have the appreciation week, Reid said, including the opportunity for all the county's industrial leaders to meet.

"I want us to send the message to the state of Tennessee that Cannon County is here, we're real and we're asking for their help," Reid said.
