Perry Warren Smith



Perry Warren Smith, age 87 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Manchester Health Care Center.

Mr. Smith was retired from the United States Veterans Administration.

He was born on January 10, 1923 in Cannon County, Tennessee to his parents, the late Cecil Calvin Smith and Annie Scott Smith.

He was also preceded in death his grandson, Brian Edward Schneider and sister, Ima Jewel Smith Higgins.

He graduated from Central High School in Woodbury, TN in 1941 and attended college in Murfreesboro and Falls Business College in Nashville. He later married Eugenia Meredith in 1946 and moved to Nashville where they lived for 48 years before moving to Manchester in 1994.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Red Hill Church of Christ in Manchester and was a charter member of the Wingate Church of Christ in Nashville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eugenia Meredith Smith of Manchester; daughter, Freda K. Smith Schneider and her husband Kenneth of Clarksville, Georgia; son, Perry W. Smith, Jr. of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kara Schneider Clark and her husband Shane of Gainsville, GA, Kevin Ryan Smith and his wife Ashley of Mt. Juliet, TN and Kyle Davidson Smith and his wife Lindsey of Mt. Juliet, TN; four great-grandchildren, Callie and Cameron Clark, Austin Birdsong and Lawson Smith; brothers-in-law, Bob (Pat) Meredith of Winchester, TN, Phillip (Peggy) Meredith of Section, AL and Joe Rigney of Manchester, TN; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation with the family was on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was conducted on Wednesday following the visitation at 12:00 P.M. p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Hart and Brother Charles Taylor officiating. Burial followed at the Midway Church of Christ Cemetery in Cannon County.
