P. J. Cook



Mr. P. J. "Rooster" Cook, 75, of Woodbury died Feb. 27, 2012 at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1936 in the Short Mountain area of Cannon County. His parents were the late P. J. Cook, Sr. and Ira (Elkins) Cook. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Arnold Cook and a sister, Faye Kee.

He is survived by his wife of over 32 years, Mary Jean (Howell) Cook, a son, Stephen Cook; daughter and son-in-law, Abby & Justin Frazor all of Woodbury; sisters, Wilma & Edmund Prater of Clarksville, Sue Redmon of McMinnville and Louise Lovvorn of Woodbury; one granddaughter, McKenna Powell.

He was a member of the Smith Grove Church of Christ and was strong in his faith and love of the Lord. Known to be a life long coon hunter, horseback rider, fisherman and farmer. He was an accomplished trainer of Treeing Walker coon dogs, winning several competitions in the sport. In years past he had retired from Commerical Carriers as a truck driver with 31 years service. One of the things he and his family loved to do was travel the country and go camping in their motor home. They had been in all 50 States and had even driven to Alaska for one trip.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Wed. Feb. 29, 2012 from 2-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thurs. Mar. 1, 2012 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.
