Outdoor Club Takes Strenuous Winter Hike

CCHS Outdoor Club hiked to the Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness Area over the winter break near Sparta.

The strenuous 9-mile hike follows Big Laurel Creek as it cascades down into the upper Caney Fork watershed.

Both Big Laurel Falls and Virgin Falls terminate by disappearing underground after a spectacular final drop over limestone cliffs.

Hikers included Chloe Fann, Emory Larson, Hannah Faulkner, T.J. Paul, Charles Steeleman, John House, Wesley Alexander, Lindsey Sissom, Ronnie Burks, Marc & Cindy Larson, Belle, Casey Hindman and Doug King.
