Local law enforcement officers are investigating a number of recent reports or theft and vandalism.

• Cannon County Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Neal was called by Sheriff Darrell Young on Oct. 12 and told to go to 2617 Short Mountain Road for a stolen vehicle report. Upon arrival he spoke with Joshua Mullinax, who stated that he had left his truck, a 1995 Nissan red in color, at Eastside Market the previous night around 9:30 p.m. and when he returned at 8 a.m. it was gone. Mullinax stated he had left his truck there before without incident. He said he did not know anyone who would have taken his vehicle. Sgt. Neal sent a copy of his report to Cannon County Dispatch to be entered into NCIC (National Criminal Information Center).

• Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gullett was contacted by Cannon County Dispatch on Oct. 11 and was informed that Brandon Richardson reported he had a gun stolen at Parsley’s Market. Deputy Gullett contacted Richardson, who said that on Oct. 9 he and his roommate had loaded their horses to go riding in Cannon County and had stopped at Parsley’s Market to eat. Richardson said he left his saddle bags in back of the truck and inside was a Keltec .32 pistol. He said once the arrived at the riding location he discovered the saddle bags missing along with the pistol. A report was faxed to Cannon County Dispatch to enter into NCIC.

• Ray Barlow of the Woodbury Water Department reported to Woodbury Police Sgt. Lowell Womack on Oct. 10 that someone had broken the sink away from the wall and broken the drain pipe and faucet in the men’s restroom at City Park. Damage was estimated at $75. There are no suspects. Cameras in the park were not working at the time of the incident, the report states.

• Woodbury Police Sgt. Lowell Womack was dispatched to 108 East High Street on Oct. 6 for a burglary report. He spoke with Issac Markum, Jr., who stated that his mother’s apartment had been broken into. He stated the landlord had come to the apartment and notified him that someone had pushed the AC unit out of the window to gain entry. A search of the apartment found no one inside and nothing out of place. Markum stated the only thing which appeared to be disturbed was the bed. It looked as if someone had slept there. Markum said his mother was in the hospital at the time.

• Woodbury Police Sgt. Lowell Womack was dispatched to Stage Road Manor on Oct. 10 for a report of vandalism. Manager Juanita Strait stated there was someone on her car and it was like tar. Strait said she removed it with bug remover and didn’t think much about it until someone informed her there were other vehicles involved. There were five other vehicles in the parking lot on the top of the hill that had the same type substance on them. Sgt. Womack searched the trash dumpsters for any evidence. An extra patrol was arranged for the area.
