Virginia L. "Genny" Scott, 61, of Monticello (Buffalo), passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, October 26, 1955, in Hammond to the late Cecil and Ernestine (Ferrell) Brown, Jr. On August 3, 1991, in Hobart she married John D. Scott; he survives.

Genny had lived in the Buffalo area for the last twenty - six years, moving from Hobart. She had been in failing health the last several months. Genny was a waitress at Anglers Restaurant of Monticello for eleven years.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and especially loved her grandkids. Genny enjoyed finding "treasures" everywhere. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of rural Monticello. Genny loved going back to Tennessee to visit.

Surviving are husband, John D. Scott of Monticello (Buffalo); children, Breezy (husband Casey) Land of Flora, and Brian (wife Selina) Scott of Monticello (Buffalo); grandchildren, Zackary, and Wyatt Roth, both at home in Flora, Leigha Crone of Monticello, and Maddux, and Paisley Scott, both at home in Monticello (Buffalo); sisters, Marie (husband Jim) Demass of Woodbury, Tennessee, Brenda Bogel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Debbie Fanning of Gary; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Genny was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ernestine (Ferrell) Brown, Jr.

Visitation will be from 12:00 (noon) to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, and from 10:00 to 12:00 (noon), Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 W. Main Street, Woodbury, Tennessee, 37190. Phone (615) 563-2311. Graveside Service will follow the visitation at the Pleasant View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family to help them fulfil Genny's wishes to be taken back to Tennessee to be buried by her parents.
