OBITUARY: Christine Scott Pursell



Christine Scott Pursell, 80, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at her home following an extended illness. She was a native of Cannon Co.

She is survived by her Husband of 32 years, Frank Pursell of Woodbury; Children, Elizabeth Miller of Manchester, David (Sandy) Scott of Woodbury and Kristie (Joey) Ferrell of Woodbury; Stepchildren, Kristie Bailey of Eagleville, Jamie (Kenny) Pewitt of Lascassas and Brad Purcell of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel) Miller, Timothy Scott, Steven (Kelly) Scott, Kayla (Chris) Johnson, Katelyn (Josh) Conner, Abigail Ferrell; Step-Grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Still, Erica (Ryan) Garrett, McKenzie (Spencer) Bennett, Sarah Motley, Colton Pursell; Great-Grandchildren, Dereck Scott, Sophia Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Brooklyn & Bellame Conner; Step-Great Grandchildren, McKinlee & Pailyn Still, Annalynn & Neyland Garrett, Jackson Bennett; Son-In-Law, Raymond Miller of Bradyville; In-Laws, Weaver Thomas of Woodbury; Linda (Ronnie) Smith, Doug (Cheryl) Pursell, Connie (Randy) Alsup; Nephew, Tim & Deana Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudie & Nettie Bly Thomas, her first husband, Shelah Scott and her brother, Billy Thomas. Christine graduated Woodbury Central High School in 1955. She went to work at Colonial Shirt factory after graduation and continued to work in the garment industry for 17 years. She married Shelah Scott who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1974. She later went to work at Dollar General Store and retired as the store manager after 17 years. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and her family. The latest addition to her family was born on her birthday. They only had 6 weeks together but they formed a special bond. She loved playing with babies.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm until 9 pm Friday, September 29, 2017
