Mrs. Nonetta (Herndon) Smith, 88, of Murfreesboro died Feb. 15, 2011. She was born April 9, 1922 in Plymouth, Indiana. Her parents were the late Alton Herndon and Sylvia (Sanders) Herndon. She was also preceded in death by her husband David Houston Smith; brothers, Alton Herndon, Jr. and Jim Herndon and by sisters, Lillian Smith and Dollie Adams.
Survivors include her son, Ray David Smith of Brentwood and daughter, Judy Ann Messick of Brooksville, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the East Main Church of Christ and a long time resident of Murfreesboro. She was a founding member of the Double Springs Home Demonstration Club and always enjoyed working in arts and crafts. Winning many blue ribbons for her quilts. She was also very fond of crocheting and was an avid reader.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 from 2-8 PM at Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 1 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.
