On May 5th 2012, the Cannon County High School Football Staff, will be conducting a weightlifting event and cookout for our Student/Athletes.

We will begin at 9:00 in the morning at the Fieldhouse with the player’s lifting weights and maxing out in two events.

Each Football player needs to find a sponsor(s). Each sponsor(s) can commit money for the Student/Athlete. For example (Sponsor (.10 cents) X athlete 250lbs (combined weight) =  $25. dollars). The parallel squat and the bench press will be judged and the only events. Each lifter will get three lifts for each event.

We would like all money turned in on that day. The checks can be made payable to CCHS Football. The players need to get started immediately asking for sponsorship and we are excited about this event. It is always a great day.

It is open to the public and after the weight lifting event we will have a cookout. I plan to meet the parents and recognize the winners of the event. Hopefully we can develop a framework to reestablish our Lion’s Booster club. The money raised from the Lift-a-thon will go directly to the Football Account and the cookout money will go the Athletic Council. Both fundraisers help support our Student/Athletes and the facilities.

Physicals will be given by Dr. Michael Thomas at the Field House the evening of the 7th of May. This will cost $20.00 and I would appreciate if all Students/Athletes have a current physical before the start of spring practice on 8 May 2012. Attached you should have three forms. A lift-a-thon sheet, a sports medical/emergency form, and a TMA/TSSAA participation medical evaluation form.

Remember the month of May. Bring your sponsorship money, your family and friends for a great event. The Lift-a-thon begins at 9 a.m. The cook begins at noon. Also, on the 7th bring $ 20.00 to the Field House on the evening of the 7th for physicals.  Then get ready for Spring Football to begin on the 8th and if you have any questions I can be contacted at CCHS at (615) 563-2144.
