Girls Scouts Eye Auburntown For Demonstration

The Auburntown City Council metTuesday, April 3, 2012 at 6 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting. The mayor and all Council persons were present except Frank Patrick.

The minutes of the previous meeting, March 6, 2012, were approved as presented by the City Recorder.

The financial report was presented with the unusual debits and credits discussed. Following the review the report was approved as presented. The balance of funds on deposit March 31, 2012 was $43,678.73.

The Girl Scouts have asked about using the C. S. Hawkins Parkearly in June to participate in a “Demonstration Day.” Since they have not fully committed to the activity, more information will become available when the do.

Mayor Roger Turney has contacted the person expected to repair the City Hall Building. They both anticipate the work to begin in the near future, as it seems the earlier-than-usual warm spring has increased activity in the building trades. 

The mayor said he is working on the budget for the next fiscal year. He hopes to have it ready for presentation and approval at the May meeting.

Tina Fletcher, Coordinator for Red Apple Day, asked if anyone knew of any entertainers who need exposure or could possibly help with this year’s fundraiser. If so, she would like to contact them as most entertainers this year are wanting to be paid.  This would be appreciated also, if any of the general public would take note of this and act accordingly.
