Election Commission OKs Voting Machine Purchase

The Cannon County Election Commission approved a motion Monday to allow chairman Lindbergh Dennis to approach the Cannon County Commission to obtain permission to move $4406.25 from the election workers line item of the current Election Office budget and place it in the assistant payroll line item for Dorinda Mankin.

Mankin had been working anywhere from 34 to 40 hours a week and the move is necessary to allow her to finish out the budget year working an average of 34 hours a week.

As of right now, the figure in the salary line item stands at a little over $1500. The $4400 would cover the rest of the salary money needed.

In other action taken during the Commission’s monthly meeting:

• The commission approved the purchase of 6 voting machine printers for a total of $2100. There is enough money in the budget on the equipment line item to cover the printers.

 • The TEACO Meeting will be held at the Cedars of Lebanon State Park April 23rd starting at 9:00. It is a one day meeting held to go over new laws that are going through state legislation right now.

• The Qualifying deadline for the August 2nd Election is Thursday (April 5^th) at 12 noon. So far it was reported that three people picked up their applications.

Offices that will be voted on include County Tax Assessor, School Board District 1, 3, and 5, Highway Department and District 4 County Commissioner.

• Chairman Lindbergh Dennis and Secretary Sue Patrick signed the reimbursement forms for the March 6th Election for the state. Cannon County will be reimbursed $21,598.12 by the State for the March Election.
