Clarence B. Davenport, 98, of Woodbury died February 18, 2010. He was born August 31, 1911 in Cannon County, TN. His parents were the late Ellis Davenport and Samantha (Travis) Davenport. He is preceded in death by sons, Freddie Davenport and Wayne Davenport; brothers, Cebern "Ben" Davenport and McKinley Davenport; sisters, Duff Mingle, Mary Mae Tenpenny, Clara Mae McKnight and Myrtle Clear.

He is survived by sons, Ralph Davenport of Connecticut, C. W. & Linda Davenport of Murfreesboro, Melvin & Linda Davenport, Bobby & Kathleen Davenport, Thad Davenport and Lynn Davenport all of Woodbury; daughters, Mary Frances McFerrin of Woodbury and Judy & James Norrell of Hill City, GA; brother, Guy Davenport of Texas; sisters, Mildred Reed of Readyville, Odie Miller of Murfreesboro; 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Mr. Davenport was a member of the Sanders Fork Baptist Church. He had served as a Cannon County School Board Member for the Second District. He was a lifelong farmer. Working in his garden, cutting and baling hay were things he loved to do, even up until his passing. He was known to be a hard working man.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 from 2 PM-7 PM. Graveside services will be held at Riverside Garden on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2 PM. Charles McKnight will officiate. Memorial donations are requested to the Sanders Fork Baptist Church or The Davenport Cemetery Fund. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
