Mrs. Wordna Bragg Black, age 96, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Friday, December 22, 2017. She was born in Cannon County, TN to the late Minor and Luree Bragg, former owners of the Cannon Courier.

Mrs. Black was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro. She attended Tennessee College for Women and earned her B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Mrs. Black taught English at Central High School from 1956 until 1972 before teaching Latin at Oakland High School until her retirement.

Mrs. Black is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann (Ron) League and Mary Luree (Fred) Lovelace all of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law, Viki Anderson Black (Charles Keller); grandchildren, Robert Carl Black, Paul David (Patsy) Black, Carl Bragg Davis, Joshua Boone (Lori) Davis, Kerry Lovelace (Nathan) Rogers, Laura Lovelace (LTC Joshua) Berry, Mike (Shellie) Lovelace, Christy L. (David) Pullias, and Terri L. (Bruce) Savage; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlin, Hannah, Ainsley, McKinsley, Logan, Justin, Johnathan, Jessica Luree, Elijah, Ashley, Jonathan, Grace, Jordan, Emily, Lauren, Chandler, Emma, and Brock; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carl V. Black who died in 2008; brother, John Bragg; son, Carl Black, Jr.; grandsons, Alton Roy "Rusty" Davis, Jr. and Alton Roy, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Black.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Noel Schoonmaker and Rev. Pam Pilote will officiate. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Cannon County, TN. Active pallbearers will be Pat Black, Robert Black, Paul Black, Bragg Davis, Joshua Davis, David Bragg, Tommy Bragg, Mike Lovelace, and David Pullias.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 E Main St, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 or Jesse C. Beesley Animal Foundation, 2215 Keeneland Commercial Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN 37127 in memory of Mrs. Black.
