Joy Elizabeth Alexander Scott

Joy Elizabeth Alexander Scott, age 80, died Friday August 8 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital following an extended illness.  She was born in Cannon County to her parents, the late Guy D. Alexander Sr. and Mary E. Davenport Alexander.  Mrs. Joy was also preceded in death by her husband, Shelah Ray Scott, her brother , Guy Alexander, Jr. and her son-in-law, Bob Stoetzel.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. 

   Survivors include her 3 children:  Steve (Marlena) Scott of Hillsboro, Mark Scott and Teresa Stoetzel both of Woodbury;  2 sisters, Pauline Witty of Woodbury and Jewell (Ted) Cashion of Lewisburg;  3 grandchildren, Dustin (Taylor) Stoetzel, Tracey "Kal" ( Angela) Stoetzel and Candice Stoetzel & fiance', Bruce Lee Payne all of Woodbury; 5 great grandchildren, Sierra, Madison, Ezra and Kara Stoetzel and E. J. Payne. 

   Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday August 11 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Clardy officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.   

In lieu of flowers donations may be to St. Jude Children Hospital or to Woodbury United Methodist Church, C/O Woodbury Funeral Home.
