Cannon County "Special Olympics" went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee on January 26th - 28th. they participated in the Special Olympics Winter Games. Eleven (11) athletes were slated to participate, but only nine were able to attend. Two were out due to illness. Five were speed skaters. Four were skiers. One skier was unable to participate due to medical reasons, but he enjoyed cheering on his fellow skiers.

The following are to be commended for their outstanding work with the Special Olympics Program: Loree DeArmond - Ski Coach; Lance McAllister - Snow Board Coach; Stormi Reed - Ice Skating Coach; and MiMi Franklin - Ice Skating Coach.
This is a great program for our kids. If you are asked to be a sponsor, step up, and be a proud sponsor, you will be glad you did. I know it is a privilege and honor for the Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 to be a Sponsor of the "Special Olympics Program".

March 14-15 State Basketball, Nashville, Tn. at Lipscomb University
May 9-11 State Summer Games, Nashville - TBA
In the State Summer Games they participate in Bocce and Track & Field Events.
