Eleven CCHS students attended the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 67th Annual State Leadership Conference at Gaylord Opryland Resort April 10-12, 2012.  Attending with the students were Connie Lorance (Advisor), Lynda Martin, and Jessica Gaines.

During the three day convention, students participated in competitions, attended workshops, and had the opportunity to listen to exceptional speakers. One of the high lights of the trip was Hannah Wright, National FCCLA Vice President of Membership.

Overall, Cannon County came home with 2 Bronze Metals, 1 Silver Metal, and 3 Gold Metals. Hayley Gannon won 1st place in Career Investigation, and she will be representing Tennessee at the National FCCLA Convention in Orlando, Florida in July.

Sarah Rogers, Mary Talbott, and Josie Woolsey received Power of One Awards. Power of One helps students find and use their personal power. Members set their own goals, work to achieve them, and enjoy the results. The skills members learn in Power of One help them now and in the future in school, with friends and family, in their future at college, and on the job.

CCHS FCCLA was awarded the All STAR Chapter Award (the highest award a chapter can receive in the state) and Power of Reading Award (for their community service efforts). Cannon County also came home with a state officer. Mary Talbott is the 2012-2013 Tennessee FCCLA First Vice President of Community Service and Public Relations. We look forward to another exciting year!
