Cannon-DeKalb Rivalry One You Can 'Bank' On

The Cannon County - DeKalb County rivalry is one of the more exciting because of the close proximity of the schools. Generally known as the “Border War,” Cannon County and DeKalb County renew their  basketball rivarly with a doubleheader Tuesday (Feb. 7). To prepare for the rivalry Liberty Bank in Smithville had messages on each side of their sign; however, the Cannon County mascot didn’t seem to agree and traveled to Smithville over the weekend to rearrange the letters accordingly. The first (home page) photo is the original messages on the sign. The one above was placed found on the sign Saturday morning and remained up all weekend since the bank was closed :-)
