I am like Danforth on this group of Republicans:
Former Senator John Danforth (R-Missouri) --from an interview with KTRS of St. Louis:
DANFORTH: What have been the big applause lines in these debates? Well, a statement that the governor of Texas is responsible for killing 234 people on death row. Or that we favor torture. Or that we’re creating a fence on the Mexican border that electrocutes people when they try to cross it. Or when people show up at the emergency room at hospitals and they’re not insured don’t treat them. And that, I mean these are the big applause lines, people just hoop and holler when they hear all that.

It doesn’t have anything to do with the republican party that I was a part of. This is just totally different. And all of these people who are saying this, y’know, and claiming that, y’know, they’re for all this stuff, they also sort of ostentatiously say, “Oh, we’re very religious people. We really, we’re just very pious, Christian people.” They were for torture, and electrocution of the people on along the border and all of that. That doesn’t have anything to do with, is contrary to the Christianity that I understand.

"I've been watching some of these Republican debates, and they're just terrible. Terrible. It's embarrassing to me as a Republican to watch this stuff."
End of quote

You have to be embarrassed even more with Newt the champion of “family value” now leading the pack. After all any one who can get to the top with three marriages and a history of adultery, be a consummate Washington insider, along with collecting 1.6 million from Freddie Mac for starters, should be the con artist the party can really get behind.

My guess Romney will be the one. Seems a decent man with just the right amount of flip-floping to satisfy the party leaders. Hopefully his religion will not be a factor for evangelicals to even consider–shouldn’t be.

LOL leave it to MMW a.k.a. dailyreader to label a Republican as a flip flopper while the current President of the United States has flip flopped so many times in the past three years he looks like he is turning cartwheels every time he walks.

Let's just name a few to refresh your memory:
1. Keeping Guantanamo open
2. Ordering military action in Libya without seeking Congressional authorization
3. Killing the NASA manned space program
4. Continuing renditions of terror suspects
5. Pledging to restore America’s standing in the world but lowering it instead

These are just five, but there are many more that could be posted. His failed economic policies, his failed foreign policies and his failed idea of a healthcare system could take up volumes of space on any website.

If anyone thinks that Obama's leadership, his policies or his ideas for the future of America are better than the worst candidate the Republicans could possibly find as their nominee then they must have been on a deserted island for the last three years.

Unemployment hovers around 10% for the entire U.S., it is 16.7% for African Americans, 11.3 % for the Latino community, 21 million households are reliant on food stamps, 47% of the American people are dependent on the government for at least one form of benefit payment, our national debt is roughly $14.7 TRILLION dollars and counting due to unprecedented spending by the Obama administration and his administration is on track to surpass Jimmy Carter to leave the worst economic legacy in the history of the United States.

MMW you can rail all you want, but there are dogcatchers out there that could do a better job than Obama! Just stay at home and cry because you have to prove who you are when you vote and watch as Republicans dominate the State of Tennessee and on the federal level in November of 2012.

David Brooks (some may have watched the Brooks and Shields exchange on channel 8) made an important observation in his NYT column. While he was directing it at a member of his own party, it goes to the heart of the problem we are facing in the nation and even in this state and area.

"But how you believe something is as important as what you believe. It doesn’t matter if a person shares your overall philosophy. If that person doesn’t have the right temperament and character, stay away."

MMW a.k.a. dailyreader as I am sure you already know, Spiro T. Agnew (I am sure you met him personally and campaigned for him and voted for him like you did Ike in 1956) made an important observation in the NYT that is still true today. I think it goes to the heart of the problem more so than anything you could spend fruitless hours researching on the internet.

"A spirit of national masochism prevails, encouraged by an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals." (NY Times, 20 Oct 69)

Lots of quotes out there but my favorite for the year--top 2011 quote and to be used for decades to come, generated right here in our town by a learned individual:

"Someone challenges his holier-than-thou existence and out comes the personal attacks."

Well MMW a.k.a. dailyreader I guess that just goes to show that there is a canyon between your and my opinion of what a "learned individual" is.

I guess my favorite of the 2011 year would have to be your quote:

"I will vote early and vote often".

I just hope that the Cannon County Election Commission and the poll workers across the county are on the look-out for your intent to commit voter fraud.

Oh, I forgot about that other quote you gave also:
"I will encourage other members of the Democratic Party to do so as well".

Nice job implicating yourself on your intent to commit a crime and encouraging your respective party members to do so as well.

I am not sure what the legalities or the liabilities would be to the Cannon County Courier, but they might want to consider informing the Election Commission of your real name, address, email and your stated intent to "vote often" considering that is a felony crime.

By the way it is not an attack on you personally, I am just re-posting your own words.

"VOTE EARLY AND VOTE OFTEN"

Great bumper sticker. I have already sold 103 at five bucks each. More orders rolling in daily, most from locals.

SBA approving a loan to buy equipment to meet demand. Thanks for all the promos- free no less.

Send me your address and I mail a freebee to you just for the mention.

"Vote early and vote often"

And I suspect it is a great deal more than a canyon.

MMW a.k.a. dailyreader VOTE EARLY is a good strategy and a time saver. We can both agree to that (shocker!).

VOTE OFTEN the way you imply and the way you publically stated in a previous posting you were planning on doing and encouraging others to do is a FELONY CRIME.

Once again you are implicating yourself in a crime that is punishable by law with a fine up to $10,000 and five years in prison for each act of fraud. VOTE OFTEN the way you described it implies that you will be making multiple attempts to vote during the same election cycle.

If you want my address you can look it up in the phone book because unlike you I have nothing to hide. Why don't you send me your address and I will send you some literature on voter fraud.

Lastly you are right, canyon may be too small of a word to describe the differences between your and my opinion of what a "learned individual" is because I don't have the ego or worldly knowledge that you profess to have and I really have no desire to ever think that highly of myself like you do despite what you and the “learned individual” you refer to say.

Still waiting for the local leadership of the Republican party to endorse Newt.

Perhaps they are too much ashamed at the surge across the Red States for the "worst candidate" being offered up or maybe this latest Reuter's poll is holding then back:

"The poll found that if the November 2012 presidential election were held today, Obama would defeat Gingrich, 51 percent to 38 percent. By contrast, Obama would defeat Romney by a narrower margin, 48 percent to 40 percent."

Vote early and often!

MMW a.k.a. dailyreader I am still waiting on you to endorse Obama for four more usseless years.

I find it funny that even what you consider the WORST Republican candidate just barely loses in a poll to the WORST Democratic President in the history of the United States.

And again, not sure what liberal website you got your info. from, but every poll I saw last night on the NBC Nightly News and others had Romney beating Obama 45% to 42%. No poll ever had Obama beating Romney.

In fact, every poll out there says the opposite that if Romney were to get the nomination for the Republican Party he would beat Obama.

Obama's leadership is so bad that 75% of the people polled across America believed the country is heading in the wrong direction (NBC NIGHTLY NEWS 12/13/11).

Now if that doesn't explain to liberals like yourself that the American people understand how bad Obama's policies are then nothing ever will.

The only thing you got right was Obama would beat Gingrich if the election were held today. The highest lead Obama has in any poll is 13 over Gingrich and if you average the 12 different polls I looked at it is an 8 point margin for Obama vs. Gingrich with a plus or minus 4 point margin of error.

None of that takes into consideration any debates that would be held between the two and none of the polls take into consideration that once the nominee is set no matter who it may be you will see a united force by most Americans both Republican and Democrat to make sure Obama is a one term President.

Keep on living in that dream world you live in while the rest of us live in reality and stop endorsing voter fraud.

OK dailyreader I have no idea what that last post meant. You are reverting back to the days when you posted your comments before your fingers caught up to the keyboard.
