John Aubrey Gunter, 62, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Vanderbilt Hospital from injuries sustained in a truck accident.

Mr. Gunter was a native of Cannon County. A member of the Smithville Church of God, he was a self-employed Heavy Equipment Operator.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years,  Carol Warren Gunter of the Short Mtn. Community; daughters,  Carolyn (Richard) Graham of Cleveland & Kristie (Dustin) Johnson of Smithville, TN; grandchildren, Brittany Little, Ashlee Gunter, Emily Graham, William Fryar, Chandler &Leah Johnson; and sisters, Betty Sue Hullett of IN., Jo Motley of Murfreesboro and Fay Pitts of Woodbury

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Mildred Wright Gunter; sister, Glenda Caldwell and Brother, Morris Gunter.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 with Bro. Donnie Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm till 9:00 pm Friday, August 5, 2011  

Pallbearers: Dusty Johnson, Richard Graham, Bryan Pitts, John Michael Pitts, Ron Mendenhall, Blake Mendenhall, Ricky Warren and BJ Warren

To the family I extend my sympathy. I know it is hard to give up a loved one but he has gone to a better place where his suffering is now joy.

This family is in our thoughts and prayers.We all go way back, he was like a brother,I never saw him without that sweet smile. Most importate he was a good, christian man.
