Nathan Nichols of Woodbury graduated from the Nashville School of Law on May 21, 2011. Nichols was one of 76 graduates from all over Tennessee receiving their Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees during the ceremony held at the Nashville Convention Center.

Nichols attended West Side Grammar and Cannon County High schools and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

He is a former Cannon County Commissioner representing the First District and has been employed by the Cannon County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office  for almost 10 years.

During his time at the Nashville School of Law, Nichols was awarded the Judge Joseph S. Daniel Scholarship and the Nashville School of Law Board of Trustee’s Scholarship. He also interns with the District Attorney’s Office for the 16th Judicial District.

Nichols is the son of Mike and Vicky Glassmeyer of Woodbury and the grandson of the late Jimmy Y. Nichols of Readyville and Ron and Anna Ryan of Lavergne.

He will take the Tennessee Bar Exam in July and, upon passing, will be a licensed attorney.

Nichols said, “I would like to thank all my family and friends who have supported me during this my journey.  Thank you to my bosses, former Circuit Court Clerk Hoppy Davenport and current Circuit Court Clerk Lynne Foster, for being so good to me and providing me a means to pay for school.  Thanks to Judge Susan Melton for being a mentor, cheering me on and teaching me so much about the law.  Also, thank you to District Attorney Bill Whitesell, Assistant District Attorneys David Puckett and Tom Jackson, and Assistant Public Defender Ken McKnight for all their help and support.”
