UPDATE: Another mindless, irrational tirade against the Courier has been posted today (7-19) by this site, yet still no correction of the erroneous information. We are beginning to suspect that posting unverified information is their common practice.

Apparently not content with simply correcting the inaccurate information that it posted earlier, another local Web site has now engaged in a series of delusional accusations against the Courier.

The Cannon Courier has nothing to "hide" from its readers, as the site claims. We will proudly and honestly announce any changes if, and when, they take place.

The site also expresses its dismay that we do not mention it by name. Considering that it has posted information that is false, we did not wish to embarrass it further.

A local Web site has posted incorrect information about the Cannon Courier. To set the record straight: The Cannon Courier has not yet been sold. The new editor is not from McMinnville. The Southern Standard newspaper is in no way involved in any pending purchase of the Courier. Despite claims to the contrary, it is factually accurate that the Courier is not involved in any pending sale with The Southern Standard, or any entity associated with The Standard.

As has been and will continue to be the practice of the Cannon Courier, we encourage all entities who publish information to ensure the accuracy of their facts before making it available to the public.

How CRAZY of that other website. All the Courier did was point out an error in the reporting and the site went wild with unintelligent tirades. WAY TO GO COURIER! I am there are still some responsible journalists in this town who will point out irresponsible reporting.

Thank you. About the only information posted totally accurately is our Web address, and we appreciate their recognition and linkage. They obviously work hard at what they do, just as we have done and will continue to do. We will strive to report factually as we have always done, because it is what readers respect and appreciate, and the right thing to do.

You don't have to read the Wire if it bothers you.
Kim Davenport, Editor www.CannonWire.com

The above reply was in reference to a email that I sent to the cannon wire about the story below from 6-25-09 My letter stated that their poor reporting of the story would do nothing but make matters worse by people horde water and create more use and then waste.

"Emergency Alert: Water shortage
Reserve water and be prepared in case of an outage, according to EMA Director Faye Morse.

The Gassaway and Auburntown communities only have enough water supply to last 24 to 48 hours due to a pump outage in Dekalb County.

Reserve your water now and be prepared in case of outage!"
