BY CAROL GUNTER

Lou Davis Higgins celebrated her '97th' birthday with a shrimp and fish feast in Woodbury last week with family members galore in attendance. Her birthday was on Friday August 26th. Spoke with Lou Davis on her big day. She was doing well and really enjoyed the family get-together. She said she had eaten too much. We both agreed it's okay to do that on your birthday. Happy Birthday, Lou Davis, love Carol.

September birthdays coming up are Lynn Underwood 2nd; Judy Gunter 2nd, Sherry Gannon 11th; Chris Hood 17th; Katie Underwood 25th; Mary Henegar 27th; and Ralph Harvey 27th.

Please keep these people in prayer: Ruth Brown, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Denise Stanton, Edith Miller and Charlie Mai Daniel and also Fay Pitts.

Sherry Gannon stopping by for a visit at our house last Friday.

Wayne and Judy Gunter and family of Lebanon doing alright these days and looking forward to the Gunter Reunion.

Catching up with 'Aubrey's' sister Betty Sue Hullett by phone in Peru, Indiana on Sunday evening and all the goings on up there. We always get to talk to each other that day to keep in touch with the family and how everyone is doing. They have been getting some much needed rain the past few weeks as it hadn't rained going on for a month. The grass had been brown and crunchy when you walked on it. Now the lawns are lush and green like they should be.

Donna Lawson doing better these days. She gave me a call the other day.

No sightings of any 'little green men', Mr. Corley, as of late. I have been told only a very few people have actually seen them. Clyde has said he has seen them but then he's said he's seen a lot of things. He didn't want to elaborate any further on the matter. I'm just glad everything is clam and peaceful for a change here on the mountain.

We do know a mop is not going to last forever. The other day when mopping so many strings left all over the floor from my mop and this was my favorite mop of the three I have. Reminded me of my hair and how it has a tendency to be falling out nowadays. That mop will have to be 'put out to pasture' now. I may be next in line I fear.

Lady calling me about the moles she has. She's gonna use the bubble gum like I have been doing to get rid of them. Told her to let me know if the bubble gum works for her, too.

So serious I feel nowadays to get the word out about the Lord as everywhere you look turmoil going on all over the world. So much unrest with people living the way they want to not even thinking a day of judgment is coming for all of us. If we sit back and do nothing, then he will not get any glory and those that are lost will not know of His greatness as the only true God there is and the wonderful love He has for us. Live your life as a testament to the One that means everything to you, Jesus Christ. There are people wherever you go today that do not know Him. You may feel somewhat uneasy in some establishments you go into as you know they do not know Jesus. Even Jesus was condemned for being around the sinners as you may recall. How are those that are lost supposed to know Him if they are not told about Jesus? Days are short here at best so ask the Lord to give you that boldness to witness. He will work out all the loose ends for you and make it possible to bring Him up in conversations as only He could do for us. We are in this world but not a part of it. Never get blindsided around the ungodly or overstay your calling there. (That means don't tarry there as you could get sucked into that ungodly lifestyle.) Just tell them about Jesus and may a seed be planted and maybe just maybe they'll give their life to Him. That is what we are to do while we are here because we know quite a joyous day awaits those that lived for Jesus and kept His commandments and showed His great love for all.
