News from the Mountain

By CAROL GUNTER

Hi and hope you're all feeling up to snuff today and always count your blessing from the Lord above for that.
Nothing like a good cup of coffee or two on these cool mornings we're having is there? Got to have some creamer in my coffee. You may just like yours black. Sure hits the spot any way you prefer it. Gotta have maybe a sausage and biscuit also, while catching the morning news.

Been thinking about the many roads we travel in this life we live here. They lead us here and there and in so many different directions. Countless mistakes we make on these wide roads that so many of us find ourselves on. It is only when we realize and accept the narrow road - the less traveled road - that our life is turned around and of course, for our betterment. We have the choice to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Savior. Never does Jesus force himself upon us. We have the freewill to do as we please. Even when a person seems to have so much going their way and have accumulated so many treasures of this world, there is and always will be something still missing inside and that is Jesus. You can't be totally happy in your life without Him because He (simply put) is the only One that can forgive you of your sins. The blood of Jesus washes and cleanses you and you really are a new creature in Jesus Christ. Don't be skeptical about Him as everything in His word is true. He can change anyone at anytime into a totally different person no matter what you have done or how you are living. He knows what you can be and His love is unconditional. As I have told you before, it is ABC simple to accept Jesus. Just ask Him to forgive you of your sins. If you are sincere, you will instantly be saved.

More important than the news on Channel 5 this morning is the news we're all waking up to that is unbelievable up here on the mountain. Our own homegrown (I think that is the way Clyde told me to write it) Clyde Nokes will be the Grand Marshal of the Gassaway Homecoming Parade, June 4th, 2016. I know we are all stunned and wonder how in the world could this have ever happened? He's already the leader of the 'little green men' and now we're just wondering how did he possibly pull this Gassaway thing off? All is not organized for this gala event yet as there seems to be one thing missing -- a mule. Clyde is supposed to be ridng a mule, but not mule has been located to fill the bill. Please contact Clyde if you have a TAME mule he could borrow for the homecoming. No one would want him to be thrown from a mule. As he says, he's older than dirt so any fall would probably and him completely. Suggest someone strap him on the mule or superglue him to it. I don't think the latter would work for Clyde or the mule as there would be a lot of pain for both of them. Bobby says after that rigged election, Clyde needs to suffer so go with the glue. My main concern is that, if Clyde goes down, he'll not be able to be at that "Gunter Reunion" September 4th to emcee the get-together of family and friends for that Sunday. Confusion about the whole matter as no one knows what to do or what should be done to get out of this, but I guess we could be okay even if it means the mountain is once again in the spotlight as name recognition will spread like wildfire, and if we let Clyde accept this honor (too late - he's already sent an acceptance letter) this would lead to such a wide range of promotions for other events and everyone will profit in the long run. Bottom line is money talks when everything else goes awry.
