News from the Mountain

CAROL GUNTER

Winds are whipping around something awful today as we are anticipating some heavy rainfall possibly 1 to 3 inches in some areas overnight and in the morning hours. Gusty winds will be coming through, too. Most everyone wishing this pattern of rain would end. Have got to secure things outside so they won't be damanged by the high winds.

Whole bunch of us making plans for the upcoming holday of Thanksgiving. Don't forget to thank God for your bounty of blessings that He gives you year round. Have a lot of fun and celebrate the occasion with your loved ones. We never know who might not be with us next year at this time.

Birthday party plans in the works for Clyde and yours truly on Saturday, December 12th, at Short Mountain Market. Should be a delightful time for everyone with Clyde and his Bluegrass Band providing the entertainment. Still hashing out time for party to start. Personally, I think 5:00 pm would be a good time. Let you know later about the exact time. Several were in attendance at "secret meeting" that was held for Bobby Taylor about paying him this year for parking vehicles as no one paid him last year. Told him he wasn't at the party last year and that was why no money sent his way. Since Bobby is once again in charge of the parking, he has been told more than once to be ever so vigilant in trying to spot "The Little Green Men" or that "Invisible Cow" that want to join in the birthday celebration. No invites sent to them so we don't want any party crashers. They could destroy the whole evening for all those celebrities that will be attending this much anticipated gala event. Only once a year do we have so many people working only a few hours overtime to pull it off and with such award-winning precise details that anyone would give their eyeteeth to be able to accomplish such a feat as this, if they knew the people we do that have this kind of talent within themselves. Big problem is looming before us now as lighting and red carpet no where to be found. Wondering has it been sabotaged? You know we have got to get this straightened out pronto as cameras or phones will be rolling. Debby remembers they go lost after last year's birthday bash. We may have to improvise or put in paper will buy red carpet or red bath mats and need enough clear lights that will light up the night sky here on the mountain and maybe a house or two. Maybe we could even settle on the carpet being green you reckon. We are redneck around here so that might just work. A note has been handed to me from those little green men that reads: "Will return carpet and your lights, if we can be at the party". Can you believe this as it is pure 'blackmail' on their part? After a half of a second of thought about this - yep, we're going with the green carpet this year and just maybe a full moon will light our way that night!

We have several people we need to be praying for: Ruth Brown, Fay Pitts, the family of Wanda Zeh, the family of Brenda Vanderpool, Billy Eudean Pack, Denise Stanton, Jeff Brown, Donna Lawson, Edith Miller, Luther Lawrence, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Kathy Martin, Gracie Bratcher and also Tracie Neal.
Please try to be in church Sunday to praise and worship the Lord. Tell everyone how wonderful the love of God is in your life and He is the only true friend you will ever have.
