News from the Mountain
Tuesday, July 28, 2015 2:48 pm By CAROL GUNTER Tuesday evening July 14th, and we've had a lot of rain once again and some strong winds this time that came along with it. Some of my neighbors' trees down and a lot of debris blown everywhere. Chainsaws being put to use at a lot of places around here. It could have been worse -- I'm just thankful it wasn't. Checked that rain gauge and we got a little over one inch of rain. Overnight into Wednesday morning we got another .4 of rain. Talking with Alene Ferrell the other evening and found out that she will be having heart value surgery before too long so do keep Alene in your prayers. Monday morning Sherry Gannon, her granddaughter Holly, and niece Kayla stopped in for a visit. Early of a morning such an enjoyable time out on our patio talking with friends and always catching the beautiful scenery that the mountain behind our house displays. Sort of like a little bit of heaven with all the peacefulness we have around these parts. Sue do love the mountain and the people I have in my life God has given me that are always there for me. Please keep these people in prayer: Denise Stanton, Edith Miller, Kathy Martin, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Joann Braswell and Denna Lawson. Clyde has called today and said he really doesn't want those "little green men" over there on his side of the mountain as he likes his privacy. I told him I liked my privacy, too, and it was about time I got it back as those little guys have got to scat from here. Reminded him those aliens were really out of their domain in the first place here by me since he claims them and they sort of look up to him for some reason (could be because they are supposedly one 3 feet tall) as their leader. Last summer as I told you he said he out run the whole lot of them and left them coughing in the dust. You know Clyde was really "moving on" to have accomplished that feat at his age wasn't he? No one actually saw this race take place so I'll just let anyone that would want to volunteer to talk to the little green guys have at it -- I'll not be anywhere to be found in the vicinity of that devil's hole while the discussion would be going on. Listening to a new gospel song on the radio "Wounded Warrior" being the title. First line - Words Can Hurt / Words Can Kill. How true those lyrics are. I guess we've all been there at some point in our life, but we cannot give up the fight, if we are a Christian. Being persecuted you will be, if you follow Jesus. Jesus the only perfect man to walk the face of this earth, and you see how he was treated. Just pick yourself up and ask Jesus to get you through any trials you may face. He won't ever let you down. *** ***
