Wednesday, April 15, 2015 12:20 pm By CAROL GUNTER I hope you're doing well this Wednesday, April 1st. No one has played an April fool's joke on me today, but the day is still young. I generally get fooled every time it seems. That's okay with me as I'm sort of gullible to believe what people tell me. Aubrey could always trick me on this day. Easter weekend is coming up, and so many will be having different festivities to attend and some Easter egg hunts to take in. The most important reason for celebrating Easter, of course, is our risen Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope you're able to be in church on Sunday to worship and praise Him. If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, then all of eternity you will spend with Him, and that will never end. I was talking with Ann Warren, my sister-in-law, on Thursday, and she is doing some better after the allergy problems she has been having. This seems to be going on with a lot of people these days. I'm glad you're doing better, Ann, and it is good to know the rest of the family is okay. Good friends, Diane Evans and Chloe Evelyn Bogle, are doing well. Monday, April 6th, is Chloe Evelyn's birthday. I sure hope you had a wonderful birthday with your family and friends, and I hope you have a bunch more of them. Happy birthday to you, love Carol. A few thunderstorms came rolling in up here on the mountain Friday night. There was quite a bit of rain, lightning, and thunder, but nothing severe to report. Electricity went off a couple of times here at our house, but it came right back on in no time. Clocks were flashing, and you know what that meant; I had to reset them, but that wasn't too big of a deal to do. People we need to uplift in prayer are: Thurman Bogle, Edith Miller, Jeff Brown, Kathy Martin, Denise Stanton, Trena Curtis, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Bernie Braswell, the Shirley Neal family, and A.J. Neal. I can remember a funny story Aubrey told me about him and his dad, John, working on a job down toward Woodbury years ago. On this guy's farm, where they were doing some dozer work, there was this mule that was quite a nosey critter, and he seemed to be here, there, and everywhere as if he had to know everything they were doing on the property. Aubrey's dad would run the dozer for a while, and then he would go to the truck to rest or get a bite to eat or something to drink, and let Aubrey get back on the dozer and go on working. John was sitting in the truck when he saw that mule coming up beside of it, and the truck door wasn't shut; it was sort of just pulled to. Well, when that mule got close enough John kicked the door wide open in front of the mule, and that mule reared up on its back legs, and Aubrey said it bellowed the loudest roar and took off running as hard as it could still bellowing never looking back as it had the "living daylights scared out of it," as the old saying goes. Aubrey and John had so much fun telling me about that mule and, of course, so much laughter about what had happened. Evidently the mule got over his curiosity, because he didn't come around them anymore or the equipment either, while they were working there. There was always something funny going on with Big John and Little John as they were affectionately called. Their legacies are remembered by so many and cherished. How you live your life around others will be the legacy you will leave behind, so treat others the way you want to be treated. Like some of you, I have found out in life there are people you thought were Christians who go out of their way to hurt and tear down others' names and their reputations because of how insecure they are, and that is all people will remember about them when they are gone, and that they did nothing to honor the Lord while they were here.
