News from the Mountain

By CAROL GUNTER

A good Saturday morning to all of you and sure hope you got to honor Jesus on His birthday and just simply thanked Him for loving you and putting so many blessings in your life. The only true friend we have is Jesus because He never leaves us no matter how awful the trial or hardship we may be going through gets.

Stopped by and talked with Chloe Evelyn Bogle Saturday evening for just a few minutes. She is doing fairly well. Do keep her uplifted in prayer.

Others to keep in prayer: Edith Miller, Denise Stanton, Jeff Brown, Lou Davis Higgins, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton and the Glen Nokes family.

Did you get all you asked for from Santa Claus? You know if you were super nice you probably really cashed in and got more than you probably needed. Always trying to be on my best behavior as we all need gifts right? The more the better my philosophy.

Doing a little last minutes shopping the other day and was somewhat pleasantly surprised at how well behaved and courteous the other shoppers were. This a few days out from Christmas so it might get wilder most likely as the big day gets closer. I do not want to be around the mall or any other business establishment if that could happen. Just as you, I have seen how bonkers people get when it gets crunch time whether it e for a sale or after camping out for a day or two at a business to get some bargains when the doors open. This something I do not really get as why would you put yourself in such dire circumstances as you could get robbed, mugged, or a whole lot rose? The wether generally plays havoc in these kind of situations, also. To each their own but just be careful out there and always keep abreast of your surroundings.

Willie Howard Bullard, age 93 passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, December 19th. He was a brother-in-law to Clyde Nokes of our community and was laid to rest on Monday, December 22 in the Sycamore Cemetery. Please keep the Bullard family in prayer.

Monday I talked with Martha Parker. Houston and her are doing okay. She said Bernie is still doing great but he's not too crazy about the therapy he has to do. You are in our prayers Bernie.

Years ago at our bank taking care of a business transaction and was talking with my good friend Nell Raymond (she has since went on to be with the Lord) and telling her I had to hurry and get back to the mountain and my "rat killing." Most of us I'm sure would realize I had a lot of things to get done when I got back home with that statement. Well, there was this young new girl there at the next window when I said that and as I looked over at her, you could tell by the expression on her face she was wondering just how many rats I was dealing with up here on the mountain that I was trying to kill. I looked over at Nell as she had a grin on her face and I told her I haven't got the time to explain this so can you please take care of this for me after I leave? Nell laughingly said, "Carol don't worry, I'll clear it up." One more time as always Nell helped me out. Sure do still miss her in my life and I know a lot of other people do too. Quite a Christian lady that I felt honored to call my friend.

Got to talk with Ruth/Boss today, Peggy/Dive and Shirley/Trooper are doing well.
Lou Davis Higgins and her family also doing well at this time. She is looking forward to Christmas with the family get together.

Nothing at the moment to report on the little green men but the week is still young. I'm just hoping they'll lay low for the time being with the being the Christmas season and let us have some peace and quiet around here. We have enough to contend with Bobby Taylor trying to stir up trouble and I've still not found out why Bobby wasn't at the store for Clyde and my birthday party. Even after I confronted him at the store that next week, he didn't really give me any kind of answer that made any sense. That is okay as no paycheck will he be getting anytime soon (really he never gets a paycheck) as he always volunteers to help at these important functions.

Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
