Wednesday, October 15, 2014 11:15 am By CAROL GUNTER Getting some much needed rain in the early morning hours this Friday. We were needing some and glad the weatherman got it right. Cooler weather for today and the weekend. Thursday and daughter, Kristie, and I spending some time today in Nashville. Always good to get away for a little while and enjoying each other's company. Relating to Kristie about the traffic in Nashville and that Darrell Waltrip once said, "if a person could drive in Nashivlle, they could drive on the Nascar circuit any day of the week." Saturday evening a great evening for me as I received some homemade chili from my neighbors, the Underwoods. I had just been wondering what was I going to fix for supper. The chili was so good that I couldn't stop at one bowl - I had to have two. Jimmy and Fay Hale have returned home after going on Diamond Tour to Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. Jimmy said they had a wonderful time, and he was able to visit Pikes Peak in Colorado. Of course, John Womack and him back to their golfing ways. Saw John up at the store today and got to talking about Jimmy and Fay's trip and also about John and Jimmy's love of golf. Harold Jennings plays golf with them, too. Nothing like getting back home is there? So glad you guys are back on the mountain. Church service was as usual so good on Sunday as Pastor Jeff Armstrong delivered the message. We missed Carlon Melton being there. Do keep him in your prayers. Mai Nell so glad you got to be there. Aubrey's sister, Betty Sue, telling me Sunday about snow flurries there in Indiana on Saturday. This seems just way too early to me but it may just mean winter is on the way sooner than any of us were expecting. Bobby Taylor at Short Mountain Market today is doing some better. Bobby and some other guy at the back table talking about the little green men, that cow, and pink elephants. Bobby still believing Clyde is taking care of the little green aliens. I hardly recognized Bobby as his hair had been cut and his beard basically gone. Someone said Bernie talked with Bobby for about twenty minutes and didn't know it was Bobby he was talking to. I guess that tells you how different Bobby looks now. Preparations that are very secretive going on for the birthday party for Clyde and I on Saturday, December 13th. Debby not saying much about it but says it will be a great birthday bash. Also not telling me if she is still planning on little green men candles on the cake. Should be more people there this year as the word keeps getting out about this prestigious event on the mountain. Last year's birthday party as I told you had some of the very high - ups or the elite of the mountain in attendance. Expect no less this time around as really who would want to miss this gala event with the red carpet treatment they would be getting? Still ironing out plans for that red carpet (hoping someone can find one) as you know that will make the night complete with so many taking pictures to treasure for a lifetime and pass on to kids and to grandkids to preserve for maybe the Smithsonian - who knows at least for the future generations as you can imagine. Something like this you know doesn't happen every day - we know what a good thing we have here and only here on the mountain.
