News from the Mountain

Saturday morning and enjoying sitting out on our patio with just a very light somewhat cool wind blowing.

I called sister Fay this morning to have a chat with her as we keep in touch on a daily basis. This is Memorial Day weekend and the horse ride from Woodbury up to the campgrounds on Short Mountain by now is well underway. Fay was telling me to have a good time regarding the ride. Of course, she was just joking about that as I have never ridden a horse in my entire life. I figure this girl will never ride a horse as there is this age problem I have and what would be broken if I fell off a horse. Told Fay if I got really brave about it and got on a horse it would just be my luck that not a snake would cross my path and scare my horse to throw me off but it would be most likely a band of those little green men that I would finally get a glimpse of as I was surely falling off the horse to my untimely death. Only a few people have spotted these little aliens as I have told you. How awful it would be that I could not live and tell about my encounter with them. I hope to maybe live a little bit longer here, if possible, so I figure I should stay off a horse and not take any unnecessary risks and just admire from a distance how beautiful horses are. I, of course, will let you know if I ever spot one of the little green men (I mean if they really do exist).

We have some people we need to uplift in prayer: Chloe Evelyn Bogle, Diane Evans, Charlie Mae Daniel, Donna Lawson, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Edith Miller, Clyde Nokes, and Bobby Taylor.

Here it is Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th. We all should pause for some moments of gratitude and thankfulness to all those brave men and women who have served so courageously in the armed forces and of so many who gave the supreme sacrifice, their lives, for us to have the freedom we enjoy in America the land of the free. We do have our problems in this country, but it is still by far the most wonderful place to be in on this planet. Our veterans should be highly honored each and every day for their service to our country. If you are given the opportunity, do what you can to let them know you appreciate all they have given and just how important they are. Actions speak louder than words, so give them a helping hand as they certainly deserve it.

I know Mother's Day was May 11th. Forgot to brag on all those wonderful mothers out there. If you are fortunate enough to still have your mom, hope you made her special day the best one ever! Our moms love us so very much, unconditionally, just as our heavenly Father does. They are always there for us loving us and guiding us through some very difficult situations that we sometimes bring on ourselves. Sure glad God created moms - I bet you are, too!

Little tidbit of information I have heard from someone up at Short Mountain Market today. Seems as though a person was told of an "invisible cow" and to be careful bush hogging so as not to hit it. First thought - how would you know if you hit the cow if you couldn't see it? Second thought - does it moo and how could you hear it above the noise the machinery would be making if you hit it? I really like this funniness about the cow - proves that I'm not the only one up here on the mountain who has stayed out in the sun too long and been affected by it!

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray…. And He shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

Monday morning and really enjoying this lovely weather we are having. I'm out on our patio listening to my gospel music on the radio and planning on getting some work done out in the back yard as the cannas and dahlias are coming up. Seems like my Aunt Lou's flowers have taken over wherever I had planted them last year. Do not know the proper name for them, but they have purple blooms in the fall that are so beautiful and keep blooming till frost as my mom's July beauties do.

Spoke with Diane Evans today and she is doing some better.
Chloe Evelyn Bogle doing pretty good, also.

A beautiful birthday party I attended Saturday at the home of Beverly Hubler, a good friend of mine, who lives down the road from me. Several people in attendance for this special occasion. She received a lot of nice gifts and money. Her cake that husband Rick (he's the truck driver I told you about) got for her was a birdhouse cake. Everyone had a great time.

No sightings of the "invisible cow" or those "little green men" but I'm always playing it very cautious anytime I go out of the house for sure. People have promised they will give me the pictures of the little green guys or the invisible cow to confirm they do exist so I can report these actual confirmed sighting to you that read the column. A picture of the invisible cow? Come on now, can you really picture that in your mind? I cannot fathom that at all. Maybe the cow becomes visible at times as that would be the only way to get its picture. I've probably hit the nail on the head with this theory. I'm sure a lot of you are in agreement with me on this. There is always a lot of action and fun going on up here on the mountain that keeps us on our toes as you can tell!

Please keep these people in your prayers: Clyde Nokes, Bobby Taylor, Edith Miller, Denise Stanton, and Donna Lawson.

I have some June birthdays to tell you about: Beverly Hubler 3rd, my brother, Norman Warren, 13th, Gunter Pitts (sister Fay's grandson) 16th, Brenda Underwood 16th, Aubrey's Aunt Nornia Willard 17th, Mrs. Macon Judkins 23rd, my brother, J.L. Warren, 25th, my nephew, James Pedigo, 29th, and Aubrey's nephew, Tracy Hullett 30th.

Back on our patio late in the day and observing how beautiful the lushness of greenery on the mountain behind our house is. Totally green everywhere I look and I'm taking all of this in as we here on the mountain I feel, have some of heaven right here on earth to thank the Lord for.

It is getting darker by the minute so I guess I need to call it a day and get back in the house. I am also thinking about what sister Fay said that she "believed anything could come down off that mountain." I'm not hanging around to find out if she's right.

If you have any news for the column, just give me a call at (615) 563-4429. Have a great day!
