New Weight Watcher’s Class Starting Nov. 5

Woodbury will keep its community based Weight Watcher’s group for another 10 week session if at least 14 men and women are enrolled and paid before starting class on November 5th. Dues will be accepted the previous Thursday and continuing members are encouraged to pay at that time. Prospective members may attend a class free on October 29th to find out more.

Weight Watchers meets at 5 PM in the community room of the U.T. Extension Office, 614 Lehman Street, across from the Senior Citizens’ Center, with weigh-ins beginning by 4:45 PM. The new session will run from November 5 through January 28 because it will not meet on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve, extending it by three weeks.

Instructor Marie Frala states “It is especially good to follow a Weight Watchers program during the holidays; people who do have proven to be more successful reaching and maintaining their long term goals.”

She adds, “It is even okay to gain weight during the holidays as long as it is incorporated into the individual’s goals; for example, that goal might be to limit weight gain to 2 pounds, or 5 pounds, before resuming pre-holiday weight loss goals.

Fees are $120 for new members, $110 for returning members, and $100 for returning Life Members. It is free to Life Members who have not gained over 2 pounds above their goal weight. Tennessee State employees and Cannon County school teachers who present proof of employment may be eligible for a one time discount of $10. Park and enter the building from the back.

Weight Watchers is known as an effective, healthy and fun way to take off excess pounds with group support. It is open to both men and women who have at least 5 pounds to lose. Members learn about nutrition, exercise, and themselves in a supportive, caring environment. Weigh-ins are confidential. Members learn how to eat out prudently and how to shop and cook healthy meals to share with their families.

The Woodbury community based Weight Watchers program has been running continuously for over 1 ½ years.
