Nelda Seal Rogers

Nelda Seal Rogers, 63, passed away on November 19, 2015, with her husband and children by her side. She was born on October 26, 1952, the only child to Clarence and Arabella Seal in Winston Salem, North Carolina. A lover of all things country music, she left her beloved state to pursue a new life in Tennessee, working as a Twitty City tour guide in Nashville. She later joined the AVCO Corporation as a secretary and it was there that she met the love of her life, a tool and die maker named Everett Rogers, Jr. They married on June 23, 1981 and were married for 34 years.

Always music minded, she began playing the piano at age seven and was the church pianist by age 12. Church was an integral part of her life and she made sure you knew she was a "devout Southern Baptist". She went on countless mission trips and pursued all avenues of church work and leadership. She enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher for the local school system and stayed in touch with several of her students. Her most memorable time in Cannon County was as a radio disc jockey for WBRY. Hers was a voice that almost everyone in this county knew and trusted.

As of late, she worked tirelessly as the clerk, the pianist, and a ladies' Sunday School teacher as a member of Plainview Baptist Church. A stickler for the rules, she remained the voice of reason in every situation. Her mission minded heart led her to her favorite project, Operation Christmas Child, and she poured every part of that heart into the ministry, sending well over 500 shoebox gifts to children overseas.

She battled sickness for much of her life, but her rock solid faith kept her steady. She was a pillar of strength and spiritual mother to many. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Rogers, Jr. of Woodbury; daughter, Jenny (Mark) Sissom of Bradyville; son, Carter Rogers of Woodbury; two step-daughters, Misty (Mark) Stout of Spring Hill and Michelle Wilkerson of Murfreesboro. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Adlen, Ethan, Lindsay, and Caleb Sissom; Faithe, Rebecca, Josh, Matt, Micah, Daniel, and Sarah Grace Stout; Nick Barabas and Cody Wilkerson and her mother-in-law, Imogene Rogers of Woodbury

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Monday with Bro. Charley Heath and Bro. Jonathan Womack officiating. Interment will follow at Cherry Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, donations may be made to the Operation Christmas Child project, care of Samaritan's Purse.
