Locally Raised Jacks & Jennets find Forever Homes Worldwide

By CINDY HALEY ODLE

Breeders of any animal set certain goals for their herds or outcome of each years new babies. They work on confirmation, size, color and disposition when preparing for each year's breeding. Owners will analyze the pros and cons of the current and previous years stock before planning for the upcoming season.

Once one finds the 'perfect combination' or even perhaps builds a very productive outcome in a high percentage of their herd, they stick to what works.

How does one measure success other than personal satisfaction in a breeding program? Well the obvious of course is assets or money gained for the new stock each year. Another, perhaps even more satisfying measurement of success, is the desire of others to seek out your new stock yearly.

Joe Thomas, Readyville TN, of Joe's Jacks has perfected his jack and jennet breeding program. Each year Joe has jacks and jennets born to his 40 plus jennets and places them for sale. Each year Joe will nearly sale everything born.

This year was an extraordinary year due to the impressive destinations for the colts that were sold. Joe's colts traveled to Belize, Norway, Kansas, Nebraska and Mexico to find their new homes.

Joe has a wonderful set of jacks for breeding and as stated previously approximately 40 of his own jennets for breeding. Joe Thomas may be contacted through his website at www.joesjacks.com..
