MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Select university classes, the MTSU Arts production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," Blue Raider athletic contests, music, a private workshop for do-it-yourself projects and much more are among many options for alumni and friends during the MTSU Alumni Spring Showcase.

The spring showcase, presented by the MTSU Alumni Association, will be held April 6-14 on and off the MTSU campus.

Working in collaboration with many campus departments and programs, the Alumni Association and MTSU offer the spring showcase allowing university alums and friends to sample what's taking place in classrooms and event venues each spring.

All events are listed on www.mtalumni.com. Click on the MTSU Spring Showcase featured item.

Most events are free and open to the public, with the exception of "Joseph" in Tucker Theatre (https://www.showclix.com/events/18277 to buy tickets for the April 5-8 performances), some athletic games and other activities.

For visitors not registered for classes but attending other Alumni Spring Showcase activities on campus between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, they should obtain a special one-day permit from MTSU's Office of Parking and Transportation available at https://www.mtsu.edu/parking/visitors.php.

Registration is required for 100-plus classes being offered by the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Education and Liberal Arts. To learn which classes are available and to register, visit www.mtalumni.com.

Rhonda King, Alumni Relations assistant director, said the goal of the spring showcase "is to engage MT alumni and community members in today's MTSU through a campuswide effort to provide many activities and events for alumni and visitors to experience."

"We invite you to sit in on a class or lecture, see a play, enjoy a concert, gaze at the stars, cheer on the Blue Raiders and more," she added.

King said there is something for everyone -- and even their dogs.

For the first time, the Alumni Association is involving "Ruff Raiders" this year by hosting a Paws in the Park at the Cason Trailhead Bark Park, 1100 Cason Trail, in Murfreesboro, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7.

For the DIY crowd, one choice includes a three-hour workshop at Board & Brush Creative Studio, 500 Medical Center Parkway, Suite 1E, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12. This is limited to 30 people. Registration includes an MTSU Alumni-discounted fee of $60 per project.
