The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) named Middle Tennessee Electric as a top three finalist for the Utility of the Year award.
The cooperative was recognized for its leadership in solar installation projects from a list of 70 other utilities.
“This is a real honor to even be mentioned out of so many other power distributors,” Middle Tennessee Electric Residential Marketing Supervisor Tom Moreland said. “We have been and continue to be committed to providing our membership with the most energy efficient options, which includes renewable energy opportunities.”
SEPA is a nonprofit organization that assists utilities in bringing solar power solutions to their energy portfolios.
Over the past decade, solar energy has gained traction towards becoming a mainstream energy option as costs declined and awareness increased,” SEPA President and CEO Julia Hamm said. “Today, the solar train is moving full steam ahead, and most utilities recognize it’s time to get on board.”
