McPeake Caught Driving Without A License — Since 1990



Acting on a tip, Cannon County Sheriff's Deputy Travis Turney caught a man driving on Aug. 3 who has not had a license since 1990.

Tony Lynn McPeake, 636 Center Hill Rd., Woodbury, was driving inbound toward Woodbury on McMinnville Hwy. on that date when Deputy Turney received information he was doing so and that he did not have a license.

Deputy Turney soon thereafter observed a white Chrevrolet Blazer pass him going the other way on McMinnville Hwy. and turned his patrol unit around.

While observing the vehicle, Deputy Turney noticed the rear passenger taillight was broken out and had what appeared to be a piece of cardboard covering the light. He initiating a traffic stop of the Blazer in the Woodbury Co-op parking lot.

Upon making contact with McPeake, he advised Deputy Turney he did not have a license and handed him a Tennessee ID card.

McPeake gave the deputy consent to search the vehicle. Upon doing so he found four syringes, a burned tablespoon with blue residue and an open 40-ounce beer bottle. McPeake stated that persons had been in his vehicle injecting morphine.

McPeake submitted to field sobriety tests and performed them to the satisfaction of Deputy Turney.

McPeake’s driving history showed two prior arrests for driving on a revoked license in the past seven years, and that he has not possessed a valid driver’s license since 1990.

McPeake was charged in an arrest warrant with driving on a revoked license 3rd offense. He was written citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of the open container and financial responsibility laws.

Bond was set at $6,000. Initial court date is Sept. 6.
