PrintMattie Drue Willard Nichols, age 94, died March 1, 2015 at her home in Lebanon, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Wiley (Buck) Nichols, who died in 1994, and by grandson, Andy Nichols, who died in 1988.
A native of Cannon County, TN, Mrs. Nichols was a longtime resident of the Hurricane Creek Community near Auburntown prior to her move to Lebanon. Her parents were the late William Gus & Gertrude Lewis Willard. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a homemaker, a retired employee of Colonial Corporation and a member of the Auburn Baptist Church A voracious reader, she also enjoyed needlework, rug hooking, tin punch, and flower gardening.
Survivors include sons, William Eddie (Donna) Nichols of Auburntown, Danny (Claudia) Nichols of Pulaski, TN, a daughter, Judith (Paul) VanHook of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Jamey (Rachel) Johnson of Lebanon, Sara Drue (Chris) Zimmer of Syrcause, NY, Michael (Amanda) Nichols of Normandy; two great grandsons, Drew & Canyon Zimmer of Syracuse, NY; one brother, Frank E. (Katherine) Willard of Clarksville; and two sisters, Lillie Willard of Tullahoma and Alberta Willard Griffith of McMinnville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until time of service at the funeral home on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adams Memorial Library, Genealogy Room or to Riverside Cemetery Trust Fund.
