Services for Mary M. Davenport Davis, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Gardens.

 

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

 

A Cannon County native, Mrs. Davis died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sammy and Callie Jones Davenport; her husband, Thomas E. (N.) Davis; son, Russell Dale Davis; son-in-law, Jerry Powell; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Sadler Davis.

 

Mary co-owned and operated Davis' Service Station for 27 years. She loved making white oak baskets, and she and her husband, N., made oak chairs and rockers. She was also a housewife for many years. Mary loved her children and grandchildren and working in her garden and flowers. She was a member of the Center Hill Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include three children, A. Dean Davis Nichols of Auburntown, Judy A. Davis Powell and Thomas J. Davis, both of Woodbury; nine grandchildren, Pamela (Tim) Cunningham, Patti (Phillip) Shook, Michael (Amanda) Nichols, Johnny (Misty) Powell, Julie Powell, Jamie (Brad) Morgan, Kimberly (Ken) Jones, Lisa Davis and Thomas (Tracy) Davis. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Louise Mayo.

 

Pallbearers are Tim Cunningham, Michael Nichols, Ken Jones, Johnny Powell, Randall Davis and Thomas Davis. Harold Patrick and Buddy Davenport are honorary pallbearers.
