Mrs. Mary Frances (Davenport) McFerrin, 72, of Woodbury died Nov. 17, 2010. She was born in Cannon County on Oct. 18, 1938. Her parents were the late Clarence B. Davenport and Georgia Pearl (Shipp) Davenport. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Don McFerrin; brothers, Freddie Davenport and Wayne Davenport.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Dale Peterson of Woodbury, Frances & Andy Duggin of Woodbury; brothers, Ralph Davenport of Connecticut, C.W. & Linda Davenport of Murfreesboro, Melvin & Linda Davenport of Woodbury, Bobby & Kathleen Davenport of Woodbury, Thad Davenport of Woodbury and Lynn Davenport of Woodbury; sister, Judy & James Norrell of Hill City, GA; six grandchildren, Christopher Peterson, Kristen Peterson, Luke Duggin, Sarah Duggin, Hannah Duggin and Jake Duggin.

Mrs. McFerrin was a member of the Sunny Slope Church of Christ and a graduate of Central High School in 1956. She was a retired employee of the Bank of Commerce with over 44 years service. She worked as a loan officer, manager of bookkeeping and was the manager of the Bank of Commerce Edgefield Branch before retiring. She also worked for many years with Smith Funeral Home. Reading was one of her favorite pass times and she had an extensive library at home. She sat with many elderly people over the years and always enjoyed hearing their stories. She and her husband also loved to take drives through the country.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.  Mark Barker and Charles McKnight will officiate and interment will be in Riverside Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Adam's Memorial Library, American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
