Marjorie Virginia Earls Vinson



Marjorie Virginia Earls Vinson, 86 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 6, 2011 following an extended illness. A native of Dickson TN, she was raised in Cannon Co.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert W. Vinson of Woodbury; her children, Brenda (Jerry) Messick of Murfreesboro, Patricia (Jim) Smith of Clarksville, Glenda (Bob) Richards of Smyrna, Gary (Kathy) Vinson of Woodbury, Dwight (Janice) Vinson of Milton, Billy (Diane) Vinson of Murfreesboro and Mary (Tony) Mason of Woodbury; 13 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Earls; her son, James R. Vinson; twin sister, Alice Markum; sister, Lyda Ruth Earls; Brothers, Russell, Bobbie, James E. and Spence Earls; Half Sister, Sudie Tenpenny and Half Brother, Charter Tenpenny.

A member of the church of Christ, Margie was a homemaker, worked at Colonial Shirt Factory and the old Dairy Queen. She loved making quilts and spending time with her family. 

Funeral services will be held at Woodbury Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 with Bro. Herb Alsup and Bro. Gayle Rains officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers include Mark Mason, Rob and Jim Vinson, Tim Underwood, Jimmy Earls, Lanny Markum, Terry Earls, Phillip Haynes, Johnny Pelham, Steve Pelham, Adam Todd and Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane, Van and Ray Nichols, Barry Bucey and Al Bugg.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 – 9 pm Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodbury Nursing Center for their care and kindness during her residence there, Stones River Hospital and Alive Hospice.
