MURFREESBORO — A Parade of Flags will mark the United Nations-designated International Day of Peace starting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, from the Keathley University Center Knoll at MTSU.

Students carrying the banners of nations around the world will walk from the Knoll to the new Global Learning Community house on Greek Row to enjoy socializing, games and refreshments at an open house. The MTSU Intercultural and Diversity Affairs Center is the event sponsor with support from the Office of Housing and Residential Life and the Office of International Affairs.

“We have specifically recruited MTSU students with academic pursuits in international areas,” says Andrew Bickers, director of housing and residential life, of the unique living area.

Bickers worked with Dr. David Schmidt, vice provost for international affairs, to recruit international and exchange students for the new housing option. There is room for 38 students, including one all-male floor and one all-female floor.

The newly renovated facility features a kitchen, living room, study area, single- and double-occupancy bedrooms and live-in housing staff.

This event is free and open to the public, and media are welcome. For more information, contact the Intercultural and Diversity Affairs Center at 615-898-2238.
