Man Charged With Aggravated Sexual Battery Of Minor



Following an investigation of over two months, a man has been charged with aggravated sexual battery of a person under the age of 13 by the Woodbury Police Department.

Douglas Michael Minthorn, 31, 106 McMillen St., Apt. 3, Woodbury, was arrested on July 3 following an investigation by WPD Sgt. John House.

The alleged sexual battery of the minor was reported to have occurred May 21 at the Dixie Youth Baseball Fields.

Bond for Minthorn was set at $25,000. His initial court date has been set for Aug. 10.

In other Woodbury Police Department and Cannon County Sheriff's Department news during the past week:

• Ronald D. Arledge, 7446 Jim Cummings Hwy., Woodbury, was charged with domestic assault on July 4. Deputies Patrick Fann and Tommy Barker worked the incident.

• Forrest Byrd, 815 Dry Creek Rd., Smithville, was charged by Deputy Patrick Fann on June 29 with public drunkenness following the report of a disturbance at a home on Underwood Trail.

• Joseph Allen Dosch, 316 Greenbriar St., Woodbury, was charged by Woodbury Police Department Patrolman Brent Brock with contributing to the delinquency of a minor on July 5 after he was found to be out walking after curfew with three juveniles. The three juveniles were also cited.

• Bobby Joel Leck, 660 Mirah Drive, McMinnville, was charged with speeding, driving on a revoked license and failure to show proof of insurance following a traffic stop on John Bragg Hwy. on July 1 by WPD Patrolman Chris Brown.

• Tammy Southers, 129 Sunny Slope Rd., Woodbury, was charged on July 2 with simple possession of Schedule IV drugs by WPD Patrolman John Fesmire.

• Christopher S. Reed, 2832 Petty Gap Rd., Woodbury, was charged with public intoxication by the WPD on June 30 after he was observed staggering on West High Street on front of the Woodbury Nursing Center. Four days earlier Reed was arrested for the same offense by the sheriff's department.

• A reported stolen vehicle was later discovered burned following an incident which occurred on July 2, 2010.

At 9:09 p.m. on that date Deputy Patrick Fann was dispatched to 1440 Prospect Rd., Woodbury. Upon arrival he spoke with Johnny Wilson, who stated that at 7 p.m. he and Olive Marx were sitting on the back porch of the house when David McPeak (336 Bates Hill Rd., McMinnville) came walking up.

Wilson stated he got up and went inside the house because he and McPeak have had trouble in the past. Wilson said after a few minutes Marx walked into the house and Wilson went and looked out the window on the driveway side of the house and saw McPeak get in his Ford Explorer and drive off. Wilson said he had left the key in the ignition.

Fann asked Wilson why he waited so long to report the vehicle stolen. Wilson said it was because he didn't want any more trouble with McPeak. Wilson stated he bought the vehicle four days earlier and it still had a drive out tag on the rear glass.

After taking Wilson's statement, Fann and Deputy Tommy Barker went to places they thought McPeak might be located but were unable to make contact. About an hour before this call Deputy Barker has been dispatched to a vehicle fire on George Scott Rd. The vehicle matched the description of Wilson's stolen Explorer.

Fann spoke with Wilson again on July 3 by phone and advised him that the burned Explorer recovered from George Scott Rd. had a small cow bell hanging off the rear end. Wilson stated the Explorer stolen from him had a cow bell on it. Wilson said he would seek warrants against McPeak.

• Joann Sadler, 345 Roach Hollow Rd., Woodbury, reported the theft of a lady's diamond solitaire engagement ring on valued at $4,700 on July 4. Sadler told Deputy Reed Bryson that the ring was taken sometime between June 28 and July 3.

• Deputy Eric Moss was dispatched to 456 Tolbert Hollow Road on July 4 in regard to a possible breaking and entering. He spoke with Cesar Wilson, who stated that when he came home to get a shower the door was kicked in. He said he walked through the house and did not see anything missing. Moss also spoke with Kenneth Wilson, who said he was at church at the time of the incident. Damage to the door from was estimated at $350.

• Deputy Eric Moss assisted Andy Parker, 3460 Bradyville Rd., Readyville, with property recovery at the home of Majorie Griffin, 410 Higgins Hollow, Liberty, on July 4.

• Deputy Tommy Barker responded to a property dispute at 225 Hopewell Rd., Bradyville, between Joe Robert and Linda Mooneyham and Doyle Mooneyham of 957 Manus Rd., Woodbury on July 3. Barker advised the complainants that the matter was a civil issue and would need to be handled in court.

• Deputies Reed Bryson and Eric Moss responded to 1758 Locke Creek Rd., Woodbury, on July 3 in reference to a possible break-in. Morgan Stone reported she had gone to the store and when she returned her back door was open. The deputies found no signs of forced entry or of anything taken. Stone was advised to contact the Sheriff's Office if she did discover something missing.

• Megan Davis of Bradyville went to the Sheriff's Office on July 2 to report a theft. She told Deputy Reed Bryson that her father, Roy Webster, had recently passed away and that several of his guns, watches and knives were missing. She stated that on April 22 she and her sister, Mary Contano, had been at the home and were having a dispute over some of their father's belongings.

Davis said Contano had stated the guns had been stolen. At that point the dispute was resolved and they began to go to court over the will that was in place. Davis stated Contano had said in court that the guns, knives and pocket watches had been stolen.

Davis said she did not have any paperwork on the missing items was could not tell Bryson anything descriptive about them. He advised her that more information would help investigators in checking to see of the items had been pawned. Value of the items was assessed at over $1,500.

• Bobby Corley of 1074 Basham Ridge Rd., Woodbury, reported to the Sheriff's Department on July 1, 2010, the theft of his 2004 Nissan Frontier truck, gray in color, valued at $9,300.

Corley told Deputy Reed Bryson that the pickup truck was at his house at 10:30 p.m. the previous day. He noticed it gone a 9:30 the morning of July 1. Corley said he did not hear anything during the night. Corley was advised that information about the missing vehicle would be entered into NCIC.

• Deputy Brandon Gullett was dispatched to 189 Haley Rd., Bradyville, at 11:02 p.m. on June 30 following the report of a structure fire. Once on scene Gullett observed that the residence was fully engulfed by flames and almost burned to the ground. The Mooretown Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Neighbors stated that the owner of the residence is Anthony Adamson, who is in jail. The home was destroyed by the fire, resulting in a loss estimated at $50,000.

• Deputy Steve McMillen was dispatched to 511 McFerrin St. on July 1 on a disturbance call. He spoke with friends Barry Bynum and George Mallard, who said they were arguing over how to cut the neighbor's grass. McMillen advised both parties not to argue outside anymore or they could be charged with disturbing the peace.

While handling this call, McMillen also handled a dispute between Barry Bynum and his sister Debbie Perry, who lives in a nearby apartment. Each wanted the other to stay away from their respective homes. Each was advised they could be charged with trespassing.

• Deputy Tommy Barker was dispatched to 221 Orville Duke Rd., Morrison, on June 29 in reference to a report of a break-in that had already occurred. He was informed by Frankie Warrick that he went to stay with his grandmother in Murfreesboro on June 25 and when he returned on June 29 he noticed his garage door was off its track.

Warrick stated that a tool box was missing from the kitchen area of the residence, the furthest place from where the vandals apparently made entrance. He reported nothing else missing.

The tool box contained several Snap-on tools, the total value of which Warrick said was between 3,000 and $7,000.

• Christopher Charles Camp, 680 Sunny Slope Rd., Woodbury, was served by Deputy Gary T. Overcast with a warrant for phone harassment on June 29, 2010.

• Deputy Patrick Fann responded to an alarm call at Dutton's Market in Auburntown on July 4. He checked all of the doors and windows and found the building to be secure. Deputy Tommy Barker has responded to a similar call at the store on July 2 with the same outcome.
