Charges were lodged against a Woodbury man last week following an incident on East High St.

David Ray Murphy, 5130 Jim Cummings Highway, Woodbury, was charged with aggravated assault on June 16 by Woodbury Police Patrolman John Fesmire.

According to the arrest warrant, the victim suffered several injuries, was covered in blood from his head to his waistline, and has at least one mark that was elongated on his side.

Both the victim and witnesses said Murphy inflicted the injuries with a baseball bat. The elongated mark on the victim was consistent with being struck with a ball bat.

Murphy’s bond was set at $1,000. Initial court date is August 23.
