Man Charged Following Accident Involving School Bus



The driver of a pickup truck was charged with reckless driving and driving with no insurance following an accident involving a Cannon County School bus this morning on Burt Burgen Road.

Bus No. 04-06 was hit by a fast moving vehicle while picking up a child at a bus stop. Thanks to a very alert and quick responding bus driver, Redena Murdock, no one was seriously injured.

One student was transported to Stones River Hospital where he was treated and released. Another student later was transported by private vehicle to Stones River Hospital.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Bruce Pryor said the bus was traveling south on Burt Burgen Rd. picking up children when it was truck by a pickup truck being driven by Tony Brewer, who was traveling north. Pryor said Brewer's vehicle topped 321-feet skid marks before hitting the bus.

Pryor reported there was minor damage to Brewer's truck.

There were 11 people on the bus at the time of the accident, including the driver.
