Man Allegedly Assaults Wife, Violates Bond Condition

A man out on bond for one alleged incident of domestic assault was charged with committing the same offense again recently.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gullett was dispatched to 7553 Hollow Springs Road on May 23 on a report on a domestic violence incident.

Upon arrival he was met by both Debbie Reed and Tiffany Reed, who stated that Thomas Wade Reed and his wife, Melissa Reed, were fighting in the back yard.

Deputy Gullett was advised by Debbie Reed that Thomas Reed and Melissa Reed had gone into the camper trailer located in the back yard. The deputy went to the camper and was met at the door by Thomas Reed, who exited the trailer and asked Deputy Gullett why he was there.

Deputy Gullett then placed Thomas Reed into custody. He next observed Melissa Reed through the door of the camper and could tell she had marks on her neck and a red mark on her face.

The deputy spoke with Thomas Reed and Melissa Reed to find out what had happened. Thomas Reed said he was upset with his mother. Melissa Reed said Thomas became upset when she asked him to take her to the store. She said Thomas hit her in the face and choked her when she took the keys to the truck (which is in her name).

It was also learned that Thomas Reed had gotten into a fight with his sister Tiffany Reed the week before and was out on bond for that incident. She was also confronted by Thomas Reed during the incident of May 23.

Thomas Reed was transported to the Cannon County Jail and booked for domestic assault and violation of bond conditions.

Bond was set at $7,000. Initial court date is July 12.
