Malone named to post
Cannon County Agriculture Committee met on May 2nd to finalized the appointment of Sarah Malone.
Sarah will begin on June 1st joining the staff of Bruce Steelman, Carla Bush and Kim Smithson. Sarah bring with her 8 years of experience as the 4-H Youth Development Agent in Grundy County. Bruce Steelman, County Director with the University of Tennessee Extension Cannon County, is excited to have Mrs. Malone as a member of the staff. She assumes the position vacated by Heath Nokes which transferred to Warren County as the Adult Agriculture Agent.
The Cannon County position as been vacant for 11 months due to the sequester which temporarily shut down the Federal government and effected financial support to the University of Tennessee. Unfortunately, it was bad timing for our position to become vacant, according to County Director Steelman. We were fortunate that the County Commission provided funding for a program assistant which was a tremendous help to the 4-H program. Jessica Pack and Skylar Daniel served in program assistants during the vacancy.
We appreciate everyone patience’s during this transition and look forward to Mrs. Malone’s enthusiasm and experience as she continues her career in Cannon County. We plan to have a meet and greet a little later this year to welcome Mrs. Sara and Andy Malone to Cannon County.
