Wow here it is May and another school year is almost over with! My how time flies when you're having fun!!

And fun they had - the RT's (Recycled Teens) of Auburn Baptist Church that is. They went on an outing Tuesday the 26th. It was a nice lunch at Cracker Barrel followed by a stop at the geographical center of our state where photos were snapped, then on to Valley Growers for flower and plant shopping. Those enjoying the festivities were Janice Fletcher (she was the driver of the van), Hallean Tate, Sandy Osborne, Joyce Dutton, Mary Ann Brittnell (she was the birthday girl), Shirley Mingle, Connie Leyhew and Paul Leyhew. Looks like Paul was outnumbered but as usual a lot of nice fellowship and laughter.

Not only can she sing but she aced the ACT with a score of 34! Way to go Mackenzie Turney.

The Daily News Journal is holding its All Sports Banquet Monday May 1st . Sure it's already over but I found out early who from Auburn was going to be recognized as MVP's in their sports category and wanted to recognize them here.

Congratulations to Hunter Vickers who was named in the boys' golf category. Maleah Scott is named MVP in the girls' basketball division and, no surprise here, but Hannah Whited made the grade in two categories - girls' cross country and girls' track-runner. Congratulations to each of you and to all the Cannon County athletes who were selected. Tennessee Titans' general manager Joe Robinson is (was) the keynote speaker.

Out of 700 applicants, our own Catie Adams was selected to be the student volunteer at the SIGGRAPH (that's computer graphics) 2016 Conference at MTSU. Congrats to you too Catie.

Our sympathy is extended to Wade Gatlin on the death of his father, Ralph, who passed away Monday the 25th. He lived in Griffin, GA.

Derrick Hughes is enjoying the sights around Chattanooga. He is a good photographer and has posted on Facebook some beautiful pictures of that city.

The 5th is a popular day for a birthday as Wallace Hancock, Jeremy McGregor, Magaline Davenport and Shirley Young all get to celebrate. It's the 6th when Bobbie Whited, Maleah Scott and Beth Hancock get the gifts. Lauren Turney's is the 7th. The 8th sees Jody Tuck making wife Sarah breakfast in bed! Carlene Brown Judkins's is the 9th and finishing up the week on the 10th are Dixie Lynn Garrison, Terry Whited and Sam Hockett. Happy birthday to all of you.
