Luther B. Blair, native and resident of Cannon Co. died at this home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 22, 2010 after an extended illness.
 
Funeral services will be 2 pm Wed., Aug. 25, 2010 at Wood Church of Christ with Bro. Randall Gann officiating.  Burial will follow in Wood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Caris Hospice, Wood Cemetery or Potter's Children's Home % Woodbury Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will be from 2 pm till 9 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2010.
 
He resided in the Short Mountain community and was honored to serve his Lord as an elder at the Woods Church of Christ for 15 years and lead singing for many years.  He was a retired welding instructor at McMinnville Vo-Tech School for 27 years and served as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during Korean War.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Carlton Blair, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Kirby Smith Blair; Sisters, Mary Ann (Fred) Newby, Christine Blair Smith, Flora Blair Markum, Vinnie Blair Forte, Alta Blair Cotton, Dora Blair Bonine, Ida Blair Ferrell, Martha Blair Foster and Jewell Blair; Brothers, Henry (Joyce) Blair, Howard (Annie Opal) Blair, Walter (Louise) Blair, John F. Blair, Charles Blair and Fred Blair.  Father-in-laws; Willie Parton and Clifton Smithson and Mother-in-law, Emma Parton Smithson; Brothers-in-law, Ralph Owens and Charlie Schuler and Son-in-law, Donnell Paris.
 
He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Naomi Parton Blair; Daughter, Rebecca Ashford Paris (Douglas Crabtree) of Marietta, GA; 2 Sons, Benny (Kathy) Blair of Manchester, TN, Charles Avery (Linda) Blair of Centertown; 2 Brothers, Tommy (Virginia) Blair of Nashville and Carlton Blair of Woodbury; Sister, Meda (Noble) Carr of Woodbury; Brothers-in-law, Carl Smith of McMinnville, Hoover Markum of Manchester, David (Linda) Parton of Short Mountain, Austin (Linda) Parton of McMinnville, Sister-in-law, Shelby Dean Owens Schuler of Woodbury.  He was known as a wonderful Papa to 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and Uncle Luther to countless nieces and nephews.  Special travel friends include Ted and Betty Smith of McMinnville.
