Lula Bell Travis

Lula Bell Travis, 97, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at the Gilbert Residence, Ypsilanti, MI. She was born May 13, 1916 in Winchester, TN, the daughter of Arthur and Zelma (Hawkersmith) May.

Lula was a seamstress for General Motors, retiring after 20 years of service. She also enjoyed sewing as a personal hobby, making and mending clothing for her family. She was a member of Graceway Baptist Church, Ypsilanti.

She was a wonderful and beloved mother of three daughters, Wilma (Jack) Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Carol (James) Davis of Ypsilanti and Marlene (Terry) Cox of Pinckney, MI. Also surviving are: eight grandchildren, Jacque Scherfer, Jay Smith, Scott Davis, Jeff Davis, Jamie Clingan, Brian, James and Steve Schneider and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin “Jack” Travis and one sister, Lela Hall. Visitation will be 3-8 pm Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 Main Street, Woodbury, TN.

The funeral service will be 11 am Monday, November 25 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Gardens in Woodbury.
